WEP / WPA code

Because we installed your wireless network for you:

You will have a WEP Key on both of your and your daughter's laptops. As well as the variety that the laptop remembers (which they both have) there is also an easily transferable version in a file called key.txt.

This is most likely in folder called drivers on your Hard Disk C: You can always type in start-search and type "key" (without the quotes) in the file name dialog box and wait for your computer to find a text file named key. Open the file and you will see a long line of letters and numbers which you can either type into the computer that's asking for it or if you have a USB memory stick, use the stick to transfer the file (key.txt) to the new computer. Then you can copy and paste the key to the wireless networking dialog that's requesting it.

If you have too much trouble we will be happy to either visit or give you telephone support until the issue is resolved.

Subject: Do we need a WEP code?

I have a friend over who is very keen to use the wireless internet you set up at our house. But we have no record of a WEP code for the internet service.

All I have is broadband log-in and the email address for virgin.net that I have the wireless from. We have the installation disk for the Netgear wireless adsl contraption you sold us. But no WEP codes or anything else.

When you installed the wireless on my computer and my daughter's computer, do you remember if we need a WEP code or anything? If you could possibly reply and let me know, that would be great. Please copy my friend onto the reply, so that he gets the answer as well, as I shall be travelling again for a little bit and won't be at home next week.

Thanks a million!
